2026 Minutes of the MHS Alumni Banquet

The 78th Annual Morocco High School Banquet was held
in the Morocco Community Center this year on Saturday, May 23, 2026 The Morocco Alumni held its annual meeting on May
23rd, 2026 at the Morocco Community Center with 49
folks in attendance and 13 no-shows. Classes
Honored: 1971 (NNHS), 1966, 1961, 1956, 1951, 1946. Dennis Boyd gave the blessing, and dinner was had
by all. He also pointed out the age of
the last students to graduate from MHS is now about 77 years old. Following dinner, Acting President Dan
Blaney opened the Annual MHS Alumni Association business meeting. Dan volunteered to officiate for President
Earl “Cap” Kessler, who was absent and recovering from a serious alligator
attack while fishing near his home in Florida. Dan then led the crowd in the Pledge of
Allegiance. The Veterans were also
recognized. A short business meeting
was held and Mary Vanderwall Gulley gave the
Treasurer’s Report. Dennis Boyd ’61 and Kathleen Yoder Rotert ’65,
along with the help of the Newton County Historical Society, presented a
plaque commemorating the 90th year of the Morocco School
Gymnasium. Its placement location is yet to be determined. Officers for 2027 were elected as follows:
President, Cap Kessler; Vice-President, Barney Belt; Treasurer, Mary
Vanderwall Gulley; Historian, Judy Cupp Schultz. Dan introduced the Honored Classes and
spokespersons from each were heard. In
conclusion, the cheerleaders in attendance led the group in singing the
