Class of ’63 -- 50th Anniversary
Celebration Candids
The Class of 1963 celebrated Friday night, Saturday afternoon, and Saturday night of Memorial weekend, their 50th Anniversary since graduating from good ole Morocco High School. On Friday night, graduates and spouses gathered at the home of Rick and Gloria (Holderby) Garmong for a weiner roast to kick off their big weekend. The group took a lot of pictures and bragged about their children and grandchildren. As the sun began to set, all gathered around the bonfire to keep warm and have their picture taken. On Saturday afternoon, the group met at the Scott Lucas House for a social hour. A few more graduates (those who could not make it for the Friday night gathering) stopped by for some more reminiscing and a lot of pictures were taken. Before the group left they gathered outside at the old Morocco Fire Bell and rang the bell one time for each deceased member of the class. The Class of 63 graduated 56 from the high school and since then there have been 12 who have passed away. The group then gathered at the Morocco School Gym for the Annual MHS Alumni Banquet where two more graduates joined us. After a fine meal, our group of 21 classmates sat on the old bleachers for a picture. The group then returned to the Scott Lucas House to say goodbye and made plans for seeing each other at the 2018 Alumni (55 years) Reunion. Those graduates from out of State were: Gene and Gloria Flagg of Sarasota, Florida; Dave and Sue DeKoker of Largo, Florida; Nancy (Bannon) Kirchmeier of Kissimmee, Florida; Sandy (Clarkson) and Noel Stuckman of DeWitt, Michigan; Phil Cox of Springdale, Arkansas; Mary Fitzgerald of Chicago; Carol (Henderson) and Lee Daniels of Metropolis, Illinois; Carol (Pottts) and John Warring of Kankakee, Illinois; and Shirley (Storey) and Dennis Deardurff of Somerset, Kentucky. Out of town graduates were: Mary (Vanderwall) Gulley of Lafayette; Alana (Lock) and Roger Deno of Fowler; Rick and Gloria (Holderby) of Rensselaer; Rex and Lee Haste of Brook; Jim and Carol Hayworth of Monticello; Janet (Barnett) Armstrong of Lafayette; Connie (Ackors) and Dave Sell of West Lafayette; and Paul Shireley of Miami, Indiana.
